Are you harboring incidents of disappointments and hurt and could not let them go? Make a decision today to grow by breaking free from the chains of bitterness and unforgiveness. The real question is: are you prepared to do what it takes to grow and to mature in the glory of Christ? If you are, you need to cross the bridge of forgiveness, leave the past far behind you and never look back. Unforgiveness stagnates the soul and puts one’s life on pause. It stifles creativity and rob one’s soul of the peace, joy and love it deserves.

Are you constantly giving in to the urge to counter every unfavourable situation and to right every wrong? By distancing yourself emotionally, you keep yourself from being dragged into the situation while remaining composed. In doing so, you give opportunity for God to act in your favour.

The only sure way to destroy the devil and his works is love. The same applies that the sure way for man to destroy himself is hatred. Like a train of dominoes, hatred has a knock on effect and it spreads out like cancer. Hence, the devil’s strategy is not to hurt the body which is temporal, but to infect man’s spirit which is eternal.

Many people are trapped by the notion of justice which in fact is a facet for hatred. Justice belongs to God who will judge the world with righteous judgment. But love and forgiveness is the responsibility of every man if he is to live abundantly. The best policy is to leave the burdens of justice to God while remaining at peace with all man. And that was precisely what Jesus did when He breathed those heart wrenching words, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.” What Jesus did on that day in full view of heaven and earth resulted in man’s reconciliation with God.

The trouble with many people is their compulsion to counter every unfavorable situation. And that resulted in irreparable lost and damage to their reputation and resources. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that we learn to hold our horses until compulsion fades into godly determination. At the back of every problem, God always has a resolution that needed our cooperation. By staying composed, we can better discern and calculate our next move. James said,

This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God. James 1:19-20

Our security and future is not for us to keep, it is God’s. Hence, we must maintain our trust in God and keep our finger on the pulse of His love.
