Romans 2:9-10 Do for God’s Kingdom what our founding father has done for our nation
Romans 2:9-10
There will be tribulation and distress for every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek, but glory and honor and peace to everyone who does good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For there is no partiality with God.
Our religious affiliations carry zero bearing and leverage on our day of judgment. Only a heart that seeks to do good for all can speak on our behalf.
The righteous judgment of God will be all inclusive; every human being regardless of their race, social status or religious affiliation will stand before the righteous Judge: every soul of man … the Jew first and also of the Greek. God’s judgment will be based on one set of law that applies to both the churchgoers and the non-church goers for there is no partiality: the Jew first and also to the Greek. That outcome for each individual is: glory and honor and peace to everyone who does good, … tribulation and distress for every soul of man who does evil.
What does do good or do evil mean? For one who does good: his heart is filled with love and he works for the benefit of others; he seeks out God’s will for his life and obeys Him; he is honest and upright in all his dealings and faithful in his relationships. For one who does evil: he looks out for his own interests and benefits himself even at the expense of others. He would do anything for selfish gains and tries to hide the evidences of his wrong doings. He is unfaithful and he deceives his relatives for his own benefit.
Put in a nutshell, a true Son of God out of his desire choose to do good; thereafter his heart would be regenerated by God to do even greater good. However, one who desires to do good (to the best of his ability) may not necessarily at that time possess the revelation of Jesus Christ as the Savior of the world. For such, God will give him an opportunity to acknowledge Christ as Lord when He appears.
Hence, We must not judge whether another is saved by their appearance or religious affiliations. It is clear that God judges a person by his heart and not by his affiliation to the “right” religion or his knowledge of the way. God judges by a person’s inclinations to love and purity; not by his knowledge, fame, wealth or religious piety. There will be no “examination papers” on the day when God judges, our works done in our life time shall speak on our behalf. Any person who loves God and others will most definitely acknowledge Jesus as Lord when he sees Him on the day of judgment. A person may be baptized, but if he remained self-centered, without regard for others, how would God judge him? Let us not be presumptuous, for only God can truly see what is in a person’s heart.
Today, in the light of Mr Lee Kuan Yew’s passing, who’s life is the epitome of Christ-likeness. I take the opportunity to raise him up as an inspiration for all believers to do for God’s kingdom in the manner that Mr Lee Kuan Yew has done for Singapore. At the end of my life, I hope to be able to say as what Mr Lee is quoted as saying, “I have spent my life, so much of it, building up this country. There’s nothing more that I need to do. At the end of the day, what have I got? A successful Singapore. What have I given up? My life.”
