Revelation 1:7-8 In Christ, we become the community of the Alpha and Omega to reign over the world

Revelation 1:7-8 In Christ, we become the community of the Alpha and Omega to reign over the world.

BEHOLD, HE IS COMING WITH THE CLOUDS, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Background

The Alpha and the Omega represents the unchanging love of God that presides over creation from beginning to end. The love of God is not passive, but is active in manifesting itself in divine wisdom and power. Jesus, the Alpha and the Omega ascended to the Father and sent His Spirit to indwell us. As a result, we become the community of the Alpha and Omega to reign over the world.

Observation

BEHOLD, HE IS COMING WITH THE CLOUDS, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen.

The cloud is associated with a heavenly portal through which God manifests His glory in the world.

The LORD appeared in the tent in a pillar of cloud, and the pillar of cloud stood at the doorway of the tent. – Deuteronomy 31:15

Then the glory of the LORD went up from the cherub to the threshold of the temple, and the temple was filled with the cloud and the court was filled with the brightness of the glory of the LORD. – Ezekiel 10:4

While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice out of the cloud said, “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased; listen to Him!” – Matthew 17:5

And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them. They also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.” – Acts 1:9-11

Jesus prophesied that He will return openly with the clouds as King of kings to restore order and righteousness to creation. While true believers welcome His return, a majority of humanity will lament because judgment is coming upon them.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

A majority of languages are made up of a series of alphabets. Alpha is the first, and Omega is the last alphabet to the series of Greek letters. It is through these letters that history of persons, nations and whole civilisations are recorded. Thus, the Alpha and the Omega represents the unchanging love of God that presides over the earth from beginning to end. The psalmist says,

The earth is full of Your lovingkindness, O LORD. – Psalm 119:64

Alpha means: God’s first and primary nature is love. It is out of this primary motivation that He created all things. And we learn to love solely because God loves us first (see 1 John 4:19).

Omega means: God’s final act on the day of judgment is love. Therefore, we need not fear for God is perfect in love (see 1 John 4:17).

Throughout human history, God’s love is at work calling, protecting and guiding those who come to Him.

Truth

God’s love is manifested through divine wisdom and power.

Because God is the Alpha and Omega, His love is not passive but active in restoring God’s righteous dominion over creation. How does God restore His righteous rule? John 3:16 says: For God so love the world that He gave His Son. John 1:14 says concerning Jesus: the word (wisdom) became flesh (power). The Son whom God sent in love is the wisdom and power of God. The gospel of Matthew records,

He came to His hometown and began teaching them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said, “Where did this man get this wisdom and these miraculous powers? – Matthew 13:54

The gospel of Luke records the conversation between Jesus and two men en route to Emaus,

And He said to them, “What things?” And they said to Him, “The things about Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in deed (power) and word (wisdom) in the sight of God and all the people, – Luke 24:19

In both accounts, the people were captivated because Jesus moved extensively in wisdom and miraculous power. The flip side is: without divine wisdom and miraculous powers, people will not experience God’s love in its purest form. Here is the law of divine love:

Divine Love = Divine Wisdom X Divine Power

Divine love is the product of Divine wisdom and power. If divine love is to be experienced, both wisdom and power must be manifested. Note, the multiplication sign ( X ). If either wisdom or power is null, then divine love remains veiled. In essence, divine love is divine power carried out through divine wisdom.

In Christ, we become the community of the Alpha and Omega to reign over the world.

Jesus ascended to the Father so that He may send His Spirit to unite with my spirit. The result is one united Spirit made up of Christ’s Spirit and my human spirit. Therefore, it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God (see Galatians 2:20). Through my Christ-Self (the one united Spirit), I become part of the community of the Alpha and the Omega, the presence of Christ on earth. Because of the indwelling Christ-Self, I begin to do the works that Christ did and much more (John 14:12). Therefore, I must die to my human limitations to bear fruit fitting for my Christ-Self. I must never say to myself, “I cannot do this, because I am not God.” For the Christ-Self is divine and can do all things.

Indeed, for people to experience the fullness of God’s love, it takes more than goodwill or a friendly face. They need to experience divine wisdom and power at work in their lives. Through divine wisdom, we know their pain and how to release them from it. Through divine power, we can destroy the devil’s stronghold. If we truly want to help the world experience God, we must seek to acquire divine wisdom and power. In so doing, we will minister as Jesus did. We will cast out demons, heal the sick, strengthen the faint hearted, and protect those who cannot protect themselves.

Application

How do we acquire Jesus’s attributes to impact the community?

You acquire divine love by harmonising your soul with your Christ-Self. Use the sword of the Spirit to cut off the negative emotions in your soul: anger, hatred, anxieties, envy, regret, sorrow and pride. You will feel inner peace and love when your soul achieves a state of harmony with your Christ-Self.

You acquire divine wisdom through communion with God. Before we begin, our soul must be in harmony. It is here that we speak to God through thoughts and receive His replies through intuition. By asking God a series of questions and through His responses, we are able to form a picture that represents God’s perspective or wisdom.

When you have come to understand God’s perspective and directives, make a decision to follow His will. Use the authority of your Christ-Self to command the circumstances to align with God’s will, and miraculous power will manifest.

Declaration

As Christ lives in me, I have become the Alpha and Omega to reign over my community. I will move in divine wisdom and power bringing hope to the people around me. I will heal the sick, cast out demons, lift up the faint hearted and protect those who cannot protect themselves.
